Situations that need to be understood before they can be addressed
My professional background spans different settings, with one constant: understanding a situation before proposing a direction.
I worked in educational guidance, employment support and public-sector services, including positions of responsibility. For more than ten years, I was also involved in organizational settings where I had to listen to different viewpoints, understand constraints that could pull in different directions and look for practical ways forward.
Above all, that background taught me that the way a problem is first stated does not always capture the real issue. Behind a simple question may be an implicit priority, a poorly identified constraint, missing information or two incompatible objectives. Before recommending an option, it can be necessary to first clarify what is established, what is assumed and what constitutes a real limit.
Personal experience of decisions that involve several dimensions at once
This is not presented as expertise, but as lived experience of choices in which several options could be reasonable without being compatible with one another.
I moved between several cities in France, then travelled around the world with my family, before building a new life abroad. I now live in Vancouver.
Those choices involved decisions where we had to understand what we wanted to preserve, what we were prepared to leave behind and which uncertainties we were willing to accept. A good decision is not necessarily the one that removes every constraint; it is often the one whose consequences are understood well enough to be accepted with full awareness.
Creating a space where a decision can be examined before it is made
Erysan did not come from one profession or from a sudden idea. It developed gradually around one recurring difficulty: seeing a situation clearly when facts, priorities and constraints overlap.
The problem is not always a lack of information. Sometimes it is losing sight of what actually structures the choice.
I wanted to create a framework that slows the decision process down long enough to understand its structure.
The aim is not to decide for the client. It is to help them see their situation more clearly before they decide.
A format chosen to make the reasoning visible
I chose a written format deliberately. A conversation can be useful, but it moves quickly. Important distinctions can disappear in the flow of discussion.
Writing creates a different pace. It requires me to state what is established, what remains uncertain, which constraints are actually present and which conditions the conclusion still depends on. It also allows the options to be compared on the same basis.
Finally, the analysis remains available. The client can return to it later and check what has changed, what still holds and what deserves to be reconsidered.
